Interests
When Azul Ceballos was a child in Argentina, her grandfather taught her to germinate algarrobo tree seeds by holding them in cold mate tea. That intimate connection with nature's cycles sparked a lifelong passion. Now an artist and designer based between New York and Argentina, Azul creates experiences that reconnect children with the living world. She founded Wonderpath, a free bilingual ecology game teaching kids ages 3-12 about ecosystems through creative play. Beyond digital experiences, Azul works with natural materials, underwater recordings, and sustainable textiles—investigating añil indigo and biomaterials. Her work bridges art, education, and environmental stewardship.

I'm an artist and designer dedicated to reconnecting children with the living world through creativity, play, and hands-on experiences. My work bridges environmental education, game design, and sustainable art practices—all rooted in the belief that fostering wonder and direct engagement with nature is essential for cultivating environmental stewardship.
Wonderpath: Climate Education Through Play
I founded Wonderpath to create free, bilingual (English-Spanish) educational games that teach children ages 3-12 about ecosystems, biodiversity, and regeneration. The platform features multiplayer drawing games where kids learn ecological concepts—pollination, water cycles, forest networks, carbon cycles—by making nature visible through creative expression. With 25 educational cards aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goals, Wonderpath takes a hope-centered approach to climate education, focusing on solutions and the regenerative power of nature.
The project is deeply personal: it's inspired by my grandfather in Argentina, who taught me to germinate algarrobo tree seeds by holding them in cold mate tea. That tactile, intimate connection with nature's cycles shaped my understanding that environmental education must engage the senses, imagination, and emotions—not just the intellect.
Artistic Practice & Environmental Research
Beyond digital experiences, my artistic practice explores the intersection of ecology, materiality, and cultural memory. I work with natural dyes (particularly añil indigo), sustainable textiles, biomaterials, and found objects. Currently based between New York City and Córdoba, Argentina, I'm conducting field research that includes:
- Natural dye investigation: Exploring añil indigo cultivation and traditional dyeing techniques with natural fibers
- Underwater sound recordings: Capturing aquatic soundscapes to create immersive audio experiences that deepen our connection to water ecosystems
- Biomaterials experimentation: Working with locally-sourced materials to develop sustainable alternatives
- Textile and fiber work: Integrating traditional techniques with contemporary environmental concerns
This research informs both my art exhibitions and my educational work, demonstrating how creative practices can model sustainable relationships with the natural world.
Background & Approach
My interdisciplinary background combines design, environmental science, and community-engaged art. I believe that art has transformative power—it helps us relate to nature, to other species, and to our shared humanity. Whether through a digital game that teaches systems thinking or a textile dyed with plants I've grown, my work invites people to slow down, pay attention, and develop reciprocal relationships with the living world.
In my educational design, I prioritize:
- Bilingual access for equity and inclusion
- Privacy-safe, ad-free experiences
- Hope-centered narratives that empower rather than overwhelm
- Creative expression as a pathway to understanding
- Systems thinking that reveals interconnections
Current Work & Collaborations
I'm currently seeking partnerships with environmental organizations, schools, and cultural institutions to:
- Expand Wonderpath's reach to more families and classrooms
- Develop additional bilingual climate education resources
- Create workshops that combine art-making with ecological learning
- Build collaborations that make environmental education more accessible
