Accessibility

NAAEE's goal is to make sure documents on the naaee.org website are accessible and comply with standards set by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. In 2018, we began the process of manually updating pdfs to assure accessibility, running an online tool to scan content for accessibility issues, and adding the process of reviewing accessibility on new content submitted during our moderation process.

Before submitting your materials, please update using the tools available here: https://www.section508.gov/create. And please remember to add alt text on all photos you include. More information on creating accessible pdfs is available here: https://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/acrobat/faq.html.

Documents on This Site

This web site contains links to PDF documents that require the most current version of Adobe Reader to view. The Adobe Acrobat Reader may already be installed on your computer as a "plug-in" or "helper application" for your web browser. To find out, click on the "PDF" link for the document you are interested in. If the Adobe Acrobat Reader is properly installed on your computer, the Reader will either download or automatically open a PDF copy of the document, depending on your browser and how it is configured. If the Adobe Acrobat Reader is not installed on your computer, it can be found, free of charge, at the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page.

If you are using a screen-reader, you may find it will not read some documents in PDF format. Adobe provides a web site that will convert nonaccessible PDF files to a format that is useable with a screen reader. The Adobe Access site is located at access.adobe.com, and the tool can also be added to your computer as a "plug-in."

Alternative Formats

At NAAEE we do our best to provide accessible documents. These documents are more portable and usable for everyone, not just people with disabilities because accessible documents work better across all web browsers, computer systems, and other devices. In addition we are happy to provide any of our information in a format that is most useable to you. If you need a document in large print, Braille, or other format, please contact our Webmaster to request any NAAEE document in an alternate format.
