As a founding member and English department lead at Utah International Charter School, I bring over 12 years of experience fostering equitable, trauma-informed learning environments for students from refugee and multicultural backgrounds. My work integrates interdisciplinary design and restorative justice practices to create a culture of care and inclusion. I also serve on the school leadership and instructional leadership teams to develop curriculum, mentor educators, and promote innovative teaching strategies that address diverse learner needs.
Leveraging a deep commitment to global education and equity, I aim to empower students as confident communicators and critical thinkers prepared for a connected world. I adapt instruction to meet individual and community needs, am dedicated to advancing literacy and equity, and have a mission to help students thrive academically and socially in an ever-changing global landscape.

"This institute was grounded in migration themes and humanities research strategies to learn how to
research and weigh evidence by exploring historical content alongside fictional narratives. Teachers
developed strategies for locating, evaluating, and interpreting evidence, and a critical lens to question
whose stories are misrepresented or silent" (Kathy Short, Director). -

WeDo - Women Empowered: Diversity Outdoors LLC (est. March 2025): Our project is focused on empowering young women, especially those from diverse backgrounds, to find belonging and confidence in outdoor recreation.
Our mission is to break barriers that prevent young women from participating in outdoor activities and to foster a sense of belonging, confidence, and leadership in the outdoors. We want to ensure that youth, especially girls, feel welcomed and empowered to explore nature, learn outdoor skills, and advocate for land conservation.
Our vision is to build a sustainable, supportive community of young women who participate in outdoor recreation and become future leaders and mentors in the space. Our primary focus is on youth, especially young women from diverse backgrounds, who may not have had access to outdoor recreation opportunities.
