I am an educator, environmental science professional, and lifelong advocate for connecting children with science, nature, and their local environment. I hold a B.S. in Environmental Science and Forest Biology, and my background in environmental science continues to shape how I approach teaching and learning.
I currently work as a paraeducator in elementary education in California, supporting students across grade levels and a wide range of academic and learning needs. I am also completing my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential through CalStateTEACH, with the goal of bringing my background in environmental science, STEM, and outdoor learning into my own classroom.
Throughout my work in education, I have especially enjoyed creating hands-on opportunities for students to investigate, build, observe, problem-solve, and ask questions. My experiences include supporting and teaching science and mathematics, leading elementary robotics and STEM activities, and developing inquiry-based learning experiences that connect academic content with the natural world. I have also participated in professional learning focused on environmental and science education and continue to seek opportunities to expand my knowledge as both an educator and environmental scientist.
I am particularly interested in place-based and outdoor education, environmental literacy, ecology, conservation, citizen/community science, STEAM, and interdisciplinary learning. I believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when students have opportunities to explore natural, real-world phenomena and recognize that science is not simply something found in a classroom; it is happening all around them.
As I continue my journey toward becoming a credentialed classroom teacher, I will create inclusive learning environments where students feel curious, capable, and connected to their communities and the natural world. I am pursuing the Environmental Educator Certification Program to strengthen my practice, connect with other environmental educators, and continue developing meaningful learning experiences that inspire environmental understanding and lifelong stewardship.
