I grew up in Western North Carolina where I learned to love the outdoors through adventures with my family. I have always  been torn between the ocean and the mountains. My interests are wide, including snorkling and scuba diving to rock climbing and mountain biking to doodling personalized cards for friends. Environmentalism and sustainability are passions of mine that I try to share with all those around me, whether its on a hike explaining why we should stay on trail or teaching a class about Leave No Trace and recyling practices. The outdoors is where I thrive and I want to share this love and meaning with people.

I studied Marine Biology and earned my B. S. Degree the subject in 2016 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. After an internship in Education at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, I realized I not only loved biology, water, and science, but sharing it with people (especially kids).  In 2017, to explore my intrest in both the outdoor indsutry and education, I completed a 31-day NOLS Southwest Outdoor Educator's Course that earned me multiple certificates and invaluable outdoor experiences along with a unquie perspective on education.

Since these events I have continued to work with youth in adventure and education settings. I worked at the YMCA of the Rockies as an Outdoor Education Instructor, as a Field Instructor with the National Center for Outdoor and Adventure Education, as Lead Outdoor Education Instructor at Mountain Trail Outdoor School, as a Wilderness Therapy Instructor with Blue Ridge Theraputic, as a Fisheries Observer (a quick break from education) and as an Americorps Volunteer Coordinator with Conserving Carolina. All of these experiences brought me to Rutherford Outdoor Coalition, where I currently work as the Outdoor Programs Manager, teaching environmental education lessons at schools, running experienial education and adventure programs, and helping inform both youth and the general public about how to positively interact with the outdoor envrinoment.
