International Environmental Education Opportunity: Apply for Mission Patagonia 2026

Participants in an environmental education program kneel together in a Patagonian forest in southern Chile, closely observing an endangered Darwin's frog during a hands-on conservation and field ecology learning activity.

Mission Patagonia is a ten-day immersive environmental education experience that brings together educators, scientists, science communicators, conservation practitioners, and sustainability professionals from around the world to explore conservation, ecology, and place-based learning in southern Chile.

The December 1–10, 2026 cohort will travel through two remarkable landscapes: Castro City in the Chiloé Archipelago and the Melimoyu Elemental Reserve in Aysén, a 16,000-hectare private conservation area surrounded by glaciers, volcanoes, fjords, and old-growth Patagonian forest.

Participants engage directly with scientists, conservation leaders, and local communities while exploring topics including biodiversity, ecosystem stewardship, environmental literacy, and sustainability. Learning experiences include ecological field investigations, wildlife observation, freshwater studies, and discussions about conservation practice, environmental communication, and community engagement.

Mission Patagonia is designed to foster both personal and professional growth. Participants leave with new perspectives, practical ideas for their work, and a network of colleagues committed to environmental education and stewardship.

The program is intentionally interdisciplinary and welcomes international applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds.
