ProBleu Funding Calls (Blue School Project) for EU-27 Member States (Apply by May 23)

The ProBleu funding initiative supports primary and secondary schools as essential champions in educating children and youth about blue sustainability and safeguarding marine and freshwater ecosystems. Educational institutions are invited to seek grants of up to 7,500 euros to support water literacy and citizen science projects that can extend for up to 7 months.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

NOAA and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation are seeking proposals for Ocean Odyssey Marine Debris Prevention Awards for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility. These awards will support initiatives that prevent the adverse impacts of marine debris in communities that are underserved, underrepresented, or overburdened by marine debris.

KEEP Green Team Mini-Grants

Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP)

Wisconsin K–12 student groups can apply to receive a mini-grant of $300 to $700 for a project to reduce the carbon footprint of their school community. Initial due dates are October 25, 2024, and February 14, 2025.

Mission Patagonia Applications Open Now

Mission Patagonia is an immersive environmental education program that takes participants to the Melimoyu Elemental Reserve in southern Chile, one of the world’s most pristine and remote ecosystems. During the 10-day expedition, participants engage in hands-on conservation activities and explorations of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs

Submissions are OPEN for Bow Seat’s True Blue Fellowship! The True Blue Fellowship is an evolution of Bow Seat’s Fellowship Grant Program. The Fellowship offers peer-mentorship, capacity building, and funding of up to $2,500 USD to youth who are developing projects that address ocean, waterways, and/or climate issues through a creative arts lens. One of the biggest changes from the Fellowship Grant Program is that the creative arts must serve as the primary method of awareness and/or action in the project. The Fellowship is free to enter and open to individuals, classes, groups, or clubs worldwide, ages 13-24. Submit by September 1st at 11:59pm EDT.

FREE Environmental Education Workshops for Teachers by NESS & NOAA

Join New England Science & Sailing (NESS) for a workshop series as we dive into the best practices for implementing meaningful watershed educational experiences in alternative learning schools. This will include three virtual speakers throughout April, and then one in-person workshop on April 27th. Connect with a community of educators who are passionate about igniting curiosity for environmental stewardship and scientific investigation, interact with speakers in environmental education fields, explore free resources to support your STEM curriculum, and hear from the NESS B-WET Teacher Cohort as they share their findings throughout the past 3 years. Thanks to NESS’s B-WET grant provided by NOAA, this professional development opportunity is available for free.

The Gulf Research Program (GRP) is offering a $4M funding opportunity for nonprofits and community-based organizations to engage Gulf of Mexico youth in grades 9–12 with STEMM concepts. Projects should focus on exploring environmental hazards and community health, with grants starting at $75,000 for up to 24 months.
