MICHAEL J. CADUTO has been sharing his passion for the natural world with others for more than four decades. He is an award-winning expert and leader in natural history, environmental education, climate change education, cultural diversity and Earth stewardship; author of two dozen related books for adults and children, including the international best-selling Keepers of the Earth® series (co-author), Pond and Brook, Catch the Wind-Harness the Sun and Riparia’s River; master performer of stories and original music; literary and script consultant and international environmental advocate. Writing: More than 400 of Michael’s articles have appeared in such magazines as Rodale's Organic Gardening, Sanctuary, Instructor, Northern Woodlands, Vermont Life, Nature Study, Green Teacher and Whole Terrain, as well as major newspapers—from the Providence Journal and Denver Post to Haaretz and Reuters International News Service. His books have received the Teacher’s Choice Award, Aesop Prize (American Folklore Society), Storytelling World Award, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Multicultural Book Award, NAPPA Gold Award, Green Earth Honor Book Award and many others.
International experience includes teaching, teacher training, conference keynotes and workshops, environmental curriculum development, writing and facilitation working in Canada, United Kingdom, Hungary, Turkey, Oman and other countries in the Middle East. Michael’s books and articles, including A Guide on Environmental Values Education (UNESCO), have been used worldwide by UNESCO through the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and translated into French & Spanish. Michael also directed an environmental education/partnership-building program in the Middle East involving 50 individuals and 20 organizations from Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine—partnering to publish their first book (February 2018)— The Garden of Wisdom: Earth Tales from the Middle East.
Teaching and training at all levels (pre-school enrichment through college and professional development courses), proficiency with multicultural audiences and diverse ethnic groups, focusing on a range of subjects, including ecology, natural history, Earth stewardship, sustainability, land use history, horticulture and indigenous peoples.
