EE Guidelines, Ocean Literacy, Climate Literacy & Energy Literacy Crosswalk

Crosswalks or alignments can be used to compare frameworks and illustrate commonalities/gaps. Crosswalks are particularly useful for teachers and curriculum developers. These crosswalks align Excellence in Environmental Education: Guidelines for Learning (K-12) to the Ocean Literacy: Essential Principles of Ocean Sciences, Climate Literacy: Essential Principles of Climate Sciences, and Energy Literacy: Essential Principles and Fundamental Concepts for Energy Education. Please NOTE: These alignments were created using an older version of the K-12 Guidelines. Although the new framework, published as K-12 Environmental Education: Guidelines for Excellence (2019), is different, similar partterns can be found.

How environmental literacy links to the core principles for ocean literacy, climate literacy, and energy literacy have been mapped in a series of crosswalks.  These crosswalks can be used by curriculum developers and others as a way of building a comprehensive and cohesive environmental literacy program:
