I have been a 5th grade teacher for 5 years. I am currently substituting while I am taking online classes in early educattion and early ed admin, and earning my EE so I can one day create an outdoor school. I love teaching, although I feel frustrated by the typical public education system. I have taught in different locations and types of schools; including teaching in Thailand for a year at an international school! I want to take my enthusiasm for teaching and helping students grow, and apply it to a different environment; the outdoors! I am a huge advocate of hands on learning, STEAM, and group projects. In a traditional school setting the option to expand to curriculum to include these activities is difficult. I can't change the system, but I can change what I do. I think an outdoor school would benefit and support a diverse group of learners who don't flourish in the typical classroom. I am excited about my dream and the oppurtunities ahead.
