Prior to coming aboard with NAAEE Bruce worked as a freelance environmental education consultant, educator, and volunteer for a variety of schools and organizations including the Rivanna Conservation Alliance, Greensboro Science Center, Tandem Friends School, and Free Union Country School. While at Free Union, Bruce developed and led a weekly environmental education class for the school’s Kindergarten and First Grade classes as well as Young Naturalist and Young Artist summer camps. 

Bruce has served on the board of the Virginia Association for Environmental Education in a variety of capacities including Conference Co-Chair, Communications & Outreach Chair, and Director at Large. He also helped develop and pilot Virginia’s upcoming Environmental Education Certification Program as an inaugural member of the Virginia EE Certification Advisory Board.

When not working with environmental education groups, Bruce can be found following his second passion, musical theatre, be it performing on stage or as a costume designer with a variety of community theatre groups.

Bruce holds a BFA in Theatre Design and Production from East Carolina University, a K-6 Teaching
