Since 2005, Aimee has worked with adolescents in the outdoors in both prevention and therapeutic settings. After working with youth in Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oregon, Aimee returned to her southeastern roots in 2009. She earned her Master of Science in Youth Development Leadership from Clemson University in 2011. After working in non-profit administration for 2.5 years, Aimee brought all that she learned back to her rural hometown of Hartsville, South Carolina. She founded Cypress Adventures, Inc. in 2015 to support the positive development of adolescents using peer mentoring, outdoor, experiential education, and adventure-based programming. Since it’s founding, Cypress Adventures has served over 1000 middle and high school aged youth through a Youth Leadership Program specifically designed to meet the unique developmental needs of adolescents during out-of-school time. This innovative curriculum is now evidence-based in social and emotional learning.
