COP 27th Youth and Environmental Education

UN Children And Youth Pavilion Concert

As part of the youth delegation at COP 27th in Egypt, we came back with a mix of emotions and climate sensations. For instance, I would like to highlight the strong sensation of HOPE, witnessing and sharing climate solutions with hundreds of youths around the world at the first Children and Youth Pavilion was epic. We are a wave of change, of hands-on solutions, and with many ideas waiting on support and finance. Although official government negotiations and concrete actions seem unclear, NGOs, Young advocates, businesses, and some governments are doing outstanding work to #SaveThePlanet.

Some examples of these amazing initiatives are the presence of the first Ocean Pavilion, the indigenous communities pavilion, and the climate education pavilion. These were places where very important solutions were taken and new networks were created.

Regarding Environmental, Ocean, and Climate Education, still governments do not include seriously all the frameworks already generated such as the 7 ocean principles at public and private schools. On the other hand, the Climate Education Coalition was launched by different countries of the world and led by the Earth Day Network. The objective of the coalitions is to include a climate education framework in countries' national curricula through public policies, which is not easy. We encourage each and every educator and organization to follow up and collaborate.

Check and join the coalition, climate education frameworks, and methodologies followed by 200 organizations around the world at earthday.org

From my own perspective, I was highly surprised and amazed by all the artists present at COP 27th, from Youth Singing, Dancing for Climate, to paintings, murals, and awesome protests and calls to action. In this way, I would like to thank Sustainable Ocean Alliance, Climate Entertainment, and Nature Now International for this opportunity to defend our future. If you like to be a Climate ARTivist or find solutions, join these communities!
