Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing us today. It is critical that we all have an understanding of what it is, the science behind the changes we are observing, and how to build student agency. Educators play a pivotal role in equipping
our students with the knowledge, skills, and tools to comprehend and address this complex socio-ecological challenge.

In collaboration with The New Zealand Association of Science Educators (NZASE) and Associate Professor Chris Eames from the University of Waikato, the Science Learning Hub Pokapū Akoranga Pūtaiao has produced a series of recorded webinars to support educators with Climate Change Education. The first session builds an understanding of the basics of climate change, followed by two sessions that explore a variety of pedagogical approaches that support climate change education at a secondary and primary level.

The Science Learning Hub Pokapū Akoranga Pūtaiao has an extensive range of other resources about Climate Change. This planning pathway interactive shows a diversity of focus areas that may help engage students with the topic, such as using evidence and models, the role of oceans, sea level rise, and finding solutions.
