Implementation Idea: Integrating Project Learning Tree in Undergraduate Education

We know it happens…folks across the country use Project Learning Tree (PLT) in their college courses. But, how, and why? What are some tips and tricks to integrate PLT in a meaningful way?
We’ll discuss adaptive approaches like peer-to-peer instruction, analyzing PLT lessons to learn about standards, teaching PLT lessons at local schools, and college students co-facilitating PLT workshops for the community. We’ll also talk a bit about how PLT lessons can be a vehicle for helping to address equity issues in the K–12 and college classrooms. Participants will also be encouraged to share their own strategies and experiences.
Meet the presenter:
The presenter, Nicole Filizetti, has a B.S. in Biology/Ecology, a secondary science teaching certificate, and an M.S. in Science Education from Northern Michigan University. She has been with the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education since 2013, assisting with professional development for the LEAF – Wisconsin’s K-12 Forestry Education Program and serving as the state coordinator for Project Learning Tree. She is headquartered in Minocqua, WI.
