I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of Education at the University of York.  My research focuses on the role of dispositions, particularly cognitive empathy, on environmental literacy. As part of my study, I developed an educational intervention investigating the development of environmental literacy among secondary school pupils in England. My approach is centred around the concept of the Citizens’ Council, a role-play-based pedagogy using John Rawl’s Veil of Ignorance that puts pupils in the position of interested parties and policymakers. This allows them to engage with their own and others' perspectives, identify opportunities and obstacles to resolving conflicts of interest, and reflect on environmental justice issues.

I also hold an MA (Contemporary Global Ethics) and MRes (Education)  from Kings College London, and I have over 12 years of experience working as a qualified teacher with children in various educational settings.
