I am a dedicated middle school science teacher in North Carolina who is passionate about helping students connect with the natural world through hands-on learning and exploration. I believe environmental education plays a vital role in helping students understand the relationship between people and the environment while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In my classroom, I incorporate investigations, outdoor learning experiences, and real-world environmental issues to make science meaningful and relevant. My goal is to inspire curiosity, encourage stewardship, and empower students to make informed decisions that positively impact their communities and the environment.

I am a dedicated middle school science teacher in North Carolina with a passion for environmental education, conservation, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Throughout my career, I have focused on creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that help students connect classroom concepts to the natural world around them. I believe students learn best when they actively investigate, explore, and solve real-world problems, which has led me to develop engaging lessons and field experiences centered on ecosystems, water quality, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship.
In addition to my work in the classroom, I have organized and facilitated summer science camps for middle school students that emphasize experiential learning and environmental awareness. These camps provide students with opportunities to participate in hands-on investigations, engineering challenges, ecological studies, and outdoor exploration activities. Through these experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts while building a personal connection to the environment and the importance of protecting natural resources.
I also collaborate with local agencies, environmental organizations, and community partners to increase awareness of environmental needs within our community. These partnerships help students and community members better understand issues such as habitat conservation, water quality, pollution prevention, and responsible stewardship of local ecosystems. By connecting students with professionals and community initiatives, I strive to show them how science can be used to address environmental challenges and improve the places where we live.
My commitment to environmental education extends beyond the classroom through my volunteer service with the Pony Patrol on both the Rachel Carson Reserve and Shackleford Banks. In this role, I help educate visitors about the unique coastal ecosystems of North Carolina and the importance of protecting the habitats of the wild horses that call these areas home. Through visitor outreach and educational efforts, I share information about responsible recreation, habitat preservation, and the impacts human activities can have on wildlife and fragile coastal environments. This experience has allowed me to promote a greater understanding of the delicate balance between conservation and public access while encouraging others to become active stewards of these treasured natural areas.
Through my teaching, community partnerships, volunteer work, and environmental outreach efforts, I am committed to fostering environmental literacy and inspiring others to appreciate, understand, and protect the natural resources that sustain our communities. My goal is to empower students and community members with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions and take meaningful action to conserve our environment for future generations.
