Esther Cowles (she, her)
Roles at NAAEE
My motto is strategic thinking for practical results! I like to start with the big picture, thinking about all the amazing ways that people in the field of EE are striving to make the world a better and more inclusive place for all our wonderful diversity. Then I seek to collaborate with people who bring many ways of knowing and lived experiences to developing strategies and pathways that lead to practical actions and results.
With over 30 years’ experience in the nonprofit and small business sectors, I know how fulfilling and challenging the work of the social entrepreneur is. I also know when an organization seeks an “outside consultant,” they want someone who will get to solutions effectively and efficiently.
I have worked and consulted as an executive leader, evaluator, program designer, instructional designer, trainer, and educator at the state, regional, national, and international levels.
I honor the intrinsic knowledge of people and organizations, and couple it with research and evaluation to guide strategic planning and organizational development. My skills are deeply rooted in participatory involvement and collaborative processes and partnerships. Much of my work is accomplished with colleagues and consultants to deliver customized expertise and services to meet each client’s unique needs.
