Delilah is a wildlife rehabilitator apprentice at Wild for Life: Center for Rehabilitation of Wildlife where she helps injured and orphaned birds of prey get a second chance at life. With a background in exotics veterinary care and a passion for avian behavior, she’s hands-on in every aspect of rehab, from administering eye medication to a screech owl to planning enrichment for the resident turkey vulture. Whether capturing an injured bald eagle in the field or transporting a red-tailed hawk to care, she’s always learning—and always in awe of the resilience of wildlife. When she’s not at the center, working a veterinary assistant, or providing pet sitting, she’s likely adventuring with her young son, Julian, birdwatching, or reading.

Delilah is a wildlife rehabilitator apprentice through NC Wildlife, working hands-on with injured and orphaned birds of prey at Wild for Life. Whether she’s administering eye medication to a feisty screech owl, feeding hungry raptors, or capturing an injured bald eagle in the field, every day brings a new challenge—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Her work with wildlife is complemented by her role as an executive veterinary assistant at Birdhouse Mobile Exotic Vet, where she helps provide medical care to exotic species ranging from parrots to reptiles. She also runs Birdsong Pet Care, a pet-sitting business dedicated to the unique needs of exotic pets. Through all of these roles, she’s constantly learning, refining her skills, and advocating for better care, training, and welfare for both wild and captive animals.

A member of IAATE, IAABC, and ARAV, Delilah is committed to staying at the forefront of animal behavior and rehabilitation. She attended both the ICARE 2024 conference and the Phoenix Landing Foundation's 2024 wellness retreat, where she deepened her knowledge of avian medicine, husbandry, and welfare. She is particularly passionate about enrichment and training, ensuring that the animals she works with—wild and domestic alike—lead lives full of stimulation and choice. She recently completed Susan Friedman's Behavior Works LLA course on applied behavior analysis.

When she’s not wrangling raptors or assisting exotic patients, she’s off on adventures with her wild-hearted son, Julian, who has been raised among birds, reptiles, and the occasional surprise rescue. Together, they explore the natural world with curiosity and respect, whether hiking through the woods, visiting wildlife sanctuaries, or just observing the world from their own backyard.

Inspired by Jane Goodall and Sylvia Earle, Delilah hopes to merge science, conservation, and education to make a lasting impact on wildlife and exotic animal care. Her journey is one of constant growth—because in the world of animals, there is always something new to learn.
