NOAA Marine Debris Program Art Contest

A drawing of a coral reef full of sea creatures and trash, with an octopus at the top holding two signs reading "We need clean water to thrive" and "Our home is not your garbage can."

Are you a student or teacher who’s passionate about marine debris? Then get your art supplies ready, because this year’s NOAA Marine Debris Program Art Contest is officially open! Students in grades K–8 from the United States and U.S. territories can submit their artwork now through December 13 that answers the questions:

  • How does marine debris impact the ocean and Great Lakes?
  • What are you doing to help prevent marine debris?

The contest will accept entries electronically and by mail! If submitting electronically, you will need to send in your artwork as a JPEG, PNG, or TIFF file. For more contest and submission guidelines, please visit our website and download the entry form. The entry form is also available in Spanish.
