Young Climate Authors Educator Training Program

We strongly believe that for children to engage with climate change and commit themselves to a lifetime of action, they need to see their voices recognized, affirmed, and amplified from an early age. The Young Climate Authors (YCA) is a book authoring program that teaches children how to write and publish storybooks on climate change for a global audience. Read the books written by past participants.
This eight-week online program equips environmental educators to teach children how to write storybooks on climate change. The outcomes adhere to UN SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for Goals). The course was originally developed as a part of the CEE-Change Fellowship 2023.
The educator training equips adults to implement the Young Climate Authors Program with children and youth. The eight-week, fully online course will cover:
overview of climate change;
research-based methods for teaching climate change;
framework for climate change and climate justice teaching;
mentoring story-writing and illustration;
teaching digital design and publishing; and
enabling children to develop climate action strategies.
Course Dates: May 3–June 21, 2025 + an additional optional 4 weeks
Application Deadline: April 20, 2025
