Top text reads "Cogitation Club"; under this are three pieces of art, text under that reads "Young Climate Authors, Educator Training Program, Amplifying children's voices on climate change"

We strongly believe that for children to engage with climate change and commit themselves to a lifetime of action, they need to see their voices recognized, affirmed, and amplified from an early age. The Young Climate Authors (YCA) is a book authoring program that teaches children how to write and publish storybooks on climate change for a global audience. Read the books written by past participants.

This eight-week online program equips environmental educators to teach children how to write storybooks on climate change. The outcomes adhere to UN SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for Goals). The course was originally developed as a part of the CEE-Change Fellowship 2023.

The educator training equips adults to implement the Young Climate Authors Program with children and youth. The eight-week, fully online course will cover:

  • overview of climate change;

  • research-based methods for teaching climate change;

  • framework for climate change and climate justice teaching;

  • mentoring story-writing and illustration;

  • teaching digital design and publishing; and

  • enabling children to develop climate action strategies.

Course Dates: May 3–June 21, 2025 + an additional optional 4 weeks

Application Deadline: April 20, 2025
