ASLA Hosts Outdoor Design Academy for K–12 Teachers

Participants take part in walking tour of Franklin Park with designer.

Dear Awesome Educator,

You are invited to participate in the American Society of Landscape Architects' (ASLA) 2026 Design Academy for Teachers: Teaching Environmental Humanities through Landscape Architecture, a four-day immersive learning experience for K–12 educators (teachers, informal teachers, afterschool leaders, librarians, and homeschool teachers) on Sunday, July 12–Thursday, July 16.

This unique professional development opportunity is designed to support teachers in integrating environmental humanities, design thinking, and landscape architecture into their classrooms through hands-on, place-based learning, including fun site tours throughout Washington, D.C.

This workshop is the highly-anticipated continuation of ASLA’s DREAM BIG with Design: Teacher’s Edition, introduced in 2024, and expanded to ASLA’s Design Academy for Teachers in 2025.

Learn more about the workshop format and view our photo gallery on the ASLA Design Academy for K–12 Educators
