I now volunteer for a number of NGO's that focus on the importance of protecting natural places, life support systems and all of the wild creatures that share the planet with us.
I am an informal science educator in Los Angeles California. I teach K-12 full time at the California Science Center, and I also serve as the Confirmation Coordinator at my local parish. I just returned from the South Pole doing educational and outreach activities about Antarctica with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory! I am a member of Interfaith America and I write for the Interfaith America Magazine about the intersectionality of faith and science.In my free time I like SCUBA diving, skiing, swing dancing, and anything outdoors!

As Student Programs Manager, Tonya is responsible for the development and delivery of school and community programs, the Learning Adventures Bus programs, outreach, and summer camps. Through her work at the Conservancy, Tonya wishes to inspire all types of students to explore their local environment and appreciate the unique wildlife and ecosystems we have here in Southwest Florida. She hopes to empower the next generation to be environmental stewards.
