Delilah Wilson She/her

Delilah is a wildlife rehabilitator apprentice at Wild for Life: Center for Rehabilitation of Wildlife where she helps injured and orphaned birds of prey get a second chance at life. With a background in exotics veterinary care and a passion for avian behavior, she’s hands-on in every aspect of rehab, from administering eye medication to a screech owl to planning enrichment for the resident turkey vulture. Whether capturing an injured bald eagle in the field or transporting a red-tailed hawk to care, she’s always learning—and always in awe of the resilience of wildlife. When she’s not at the center, working a veterinary assistant, or providing pet sitting, she’s likely adventuring with her young son, Julian, birdwatching, or reading.

Hello! I would like to hear your thoughts regarding: What does an ecologically sustainable life look like? How can we support the environment by nourishing ourselves? I believe that the ways we are currently meeting our needs---concrete cities, transportation, extraction, novel chemical usage, farming---have significant impacts on the environment. I wonder if we can observe and model how other organisms have integrated themselves into mutualistic relationships. I’ve studied and practiced small organic farming for 5 years, I eliminate fungal pathogens with my compost tea, and I’ve been teaching these methods to thousands of people through my fellowship with California Climate Action Corps. What else can we do, and can we possibly survive using those methods?
