I work as the Education Manager for Public Lab. We are a community of DIY-scientists, programmers, and makers, supported by a non-profit, focused on empirical experiences of our environment. I work to bring community science and environmental monitoring into K12 classrooms nationally.
I became a scientist early on. As a child on Nantucket Island, I could often be found barefoot, traipsing about the island armed with a fish net, a pair of binoculars, matches, a magnifying glass, and the Little Golden Guides. I loved the ocean and idolized island hero, astronomer Maria Mitchell.
