I love to chat with my adult children, read, garden, lake kayak, and hike in nature with my husband. My dissertation research was with 3-6 year-olds, investigating their connections to nature in a nature-based Montessori school. I have 13 years of experience teaching in K-12 (math, science, ELL, and health) in Botswana, the United Nations International School in Manhattan, and public schools in Minnesota, and twelve years as a professor primarily teaching integrative STEM to pre-and in-service teachers. A founding board member for a Montessori school and board member for an Environmental Learning Center in SE MN. I am presently serving on a Public Library Board of Trustees.

I grew up surrounded by nature and outdoor adventures, which inspired my educational pursuits of environmental education. I hope to continue the work I started with my thesis, which combines restorative practices with place-based education to support youths’ understanding of climate change.
