I’m the co-founder of Nature Bathing, a Hong Kong social enterprise using nature-based programs to uplift people’s well-being. Living in one of the world's most stressed cities, we provide nature-based wellness programs for citizens to de-stress, learn and connect deeply with nature. Science has shown that a 20-minute nature break can effectively reduce our stress hormones for 2-3 weeks. We help people experience nature's power in improving well-being, so as to inspire intrinsic motivation for environmental conservation. Since 2017, we have partnered with 70+ schools, 40+ non-profits and 20+ corporates to co-create impactful programs and community resources, serving more than 10,000 people.

My social enterprise, Nature Bathing offers nature-based wellness programs for urban citizens to de-stress, learn and connect with the environment. Our aim is to increase environmental awareness and affection, enhance knowledge and understanding and change perception and attitude towards the environment. As environmental educators, we work with schools, NGOs, and corporates, serving over 10,000 people since 2017.
We promote nature as a free and universally accessible community resource to uplift physical and mental well-being. Our Nature Bathing Play approach focuses on 'play' and is supported by science, including Nature Play games, Multi-sensory experience, Nature art, and Reflective sharing.
Target audience: 3-90 year-olds, including children, students, teachers, employees, families, elderly, ethnic minority groups, emotionally distressed, SEN children, mentally challenged, the disabled and dementia patients.
To build of movement of “Nature for well-being”, our work focuses on the following four areas:
1. Awareness Raising
We provide talks and workshops to build awareness and conduct sharing in community events and media interviews.
2. Direct Experience
We organize community tasting sessions in urban parks, large-scale Nature Immersion Community Events (100-300 people), including the first Hong Kong "Tree Hug Day" and "Nature Well-being Day" for schools. We provided online workshops (>1000 students), sending nature “Nature Wonder Boxes” (plant and animal specimens) to bring nature into homes during pandemic.
3. Capacity Building
We offer train-the-trainer certificate courses to kindergarten teachers (>100 pax), students, families and elderly. Participants 1) relax and connect with nature, 2) learn nature games and facilitation skills, 3) plan and lead Nature outings to serve communities in need, and 4) sustain the practice in everyday life. We work with schools, corporates and malls to co-create nature routes and maps in different districts.
4. Facilitate Habit Formation
We create public education resources including game books, nature maps and videos, to enable families, teachers and social workers to plan self-guided exploration in nature and educate their own users.
>85% participants report improvement in well-being (increase in happiness, decrease in stress), enhanced nature connection and environmental awareness.
