I am an educator at Corry Area Intermediate School, where I have taught art, library, and Title I reading for the past 10 years. I hold Pennsylvania teaching certifications in K–12 art, K–12 library, K–6 elementary education, and grades 6–9 math and science. My diverse teaching background allows me to integrate literacy, science, creativity, and critical thinking across disciplines.
Outside the classroom, I am deeply committed to environmental stewardship and conservation. I am a Master Watershed Steward and Pennsylvania Forest Steward through Penn State Extension. I also manage 20 acres of conservation forest surrounding LeBoeuf Creek, where I monitor forest health, invasive species, wildlife habitat, and watershed conditions. This hands-on work has strengthened my understanding of the connections between forests, waterways, and ecosystem health.
My passion for conservation extends into my daily life. I have rewilded my front yard using native plants to create habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. I enjoy learning through gardening podcasts and reading nature-focused books, especially the work of Doug Tallamy, whose writing has greatly influenced my understanding of ecological restoration and the importance of native plants.
I actively support and volunteer with several conservation organizations, including the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park (LEAF), the Foundation for Sustainable Forests, and the French Creek Valley Conservancy. Through these organizations, I participate in efforts to promote habitat restoration, environmental education, and sustainable land stewardship throughout northwestern Pennsylvania.
As both an educator and steward, I am passionate about helping students build meaningful connections with the natural world through observation, inquiry, creativity, and place-based learning. I am especially excited about using Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) to engage students in authentic environmental issues and empower them to become thoughtful stewards of their communities.
