Short in stature, but long in my love of learning. My goal is to be a lifelong learner, a wandering wonderer, and a force for good in my personal and professional life. My life was shaped by a childhood of relocations which resulted in my relying on books as a source of stability. Thus began my steady relationship with books of all kinds which I obtained in school and local public libraries. This habit became a career as I parlayed that passion for knowledge into education. The lessons learned during pursuit and my attainment of a Masters degree in Montessori Education positively shaped my adult life as a parent, and as an educator. The philosophy of Montessori matched my own thoughts about the care of self, care of others, and care of the world. These principles of kindness, the ethical treatment of all living things, my love of nature, the power of knowledge, and the importance of personal responsibility guide the way I live life and continues to influence my career path.

Grandfather Mountain Expands Wild Watch Program
I am an energetic educator of over 20 years who is dedicated to motivating, inspiring and guiding students of all ages. I promote learning as a lifelong endeavor; the type of learning that is not limited by academia, GPA, or test scores. As a formal educator, I achieved the top tier rating as a Highly Effective Teacher for multiple years and have special endorsements in Reading, ESOL, and Gifted. I've written and secured several grants and volunteered for projects in underserved communities with overlooked populations. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues, parents, and community partners to further non-profit endeavors and grassroots movements to effect positive change. I am familiar with using data driven analysis to determine the best course of action and next steps. I understand the importance of guiding young people to think beyond their socio-economic boxes and experiences to realize their potential. I've been uncommonly fortunate to land a dream job as I approach the age of retirement. I realize too that I will never retire from my desire to always stay curious, to care for the natural world that provides abundantly for all creatures great and small, and to encourage my students to follow and love the tenet of ABC: Always Be Curious. In the words of Michael Jackson "A.B.C. it's easy as one, two, three or simple as do-re-mi, that's how simple love can be."
