Georgia ELP

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is currently is working alongside the Georgia Department of Education and the Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia (the state's nonprofit professional association for environmental educators) to develop an environmental literacy plan that will provide a framework for school systems to expand and improve their environmental education programs.

The ELP will serve as a resource for articles, action alerts, and emerging information relevant to the environmental educator. Key strategies include:

  • Engage and partner with public health professionals, organizations, and agencies.

  • Increase awareness about the health benefits of learning and play in nature.

  • Create member dialog regarding current issues, concerns, and barriers to creating a statewide culture of environmental literacy and stewardship.
