Educators Survey for a State Database for Climate Education
Greetings!
Our Third Act Educators group needs your help in advancing climate literacy education across the country! We have created a SHORT survey to distribute to K–12 educators (teachers, school administrators, informal educators, etc.) to help get a better idea of where our states are with respect to climate literacy efforts as well as identifying models of climate ed advocacy and climate ed leaders who might share advice. Please note that survey takers are anonymous unless they opt to provide contact information. If you are able, we encourage all educators (active or retired) to complete the survey! Take the survey now >> Can you help us distribute this survey to educators you might know?
We believe this could be a good step in assisting leaders across the country in their efforts to advocate for climate education legislation and create seals for diplomas for such education. Given recent successful efforts along those lines in several states in recent years (e.g., New York, Colorado, Maine), having a current snapshot of such efforts and a resource list might help with that goal.
After gathering the data and clarifying that picture of where things are, Third Act Educators and Third Act members who reside in such states may be helpful in moving this forward, where there is work to be done, and making sure that states that have legislated it are fulfilling their responsibilities.
FYI, as part of this effort, we would like to update educators about resources like the Coalition for Climate Education Policy’s Toolkit to assist with such work.
We look forward to working with others on this important goal of implementing and improving climate literacy and climate education policy and learning more about how Educators can help.
To help, please forward the survey link to educators you know and if you are an educator, please take the survey!
If you have any questions, please let us know!
