DEADLINE EXTENDED Announcing the Princeton | Places Urban Imagination Prize
Applications are now being accepted for the Princeton | Places Urban Imagination Prize. The prize is a new collaboration between the Princeton Urban Imagination Center and Places Journal, established to encourage ambitious public scholarship in the design disciplines. The inaugural prize will focus on the theme of mobility justice. This is a capacious theme, and we are open to a range of issues and vantages, ranging from the contested politics of metropolitan transportation modalities, systems, technologies, and infrastructures, including the emergence of connected and autonomous vehicles; to climate change and environmental justice; to disability rights and inclusive access; to the effects of racism, sexism, ageism, and ableism on personal, bodily, and social mobilities.
Award Details
The winner of the Princeton | Places Urban Imagination Prize will receive an honorarium of $7,500 to produce a major written work of public scholarship for publication in Places Journal and for presentation in a public lecture sponsored by the Urban Imagination Center. Travel, accommodation, and meals associated with the event will be funded in addition to the honorarium. The prize is open to university-based or independent authors. The recipient will have a period of one year to complete both the article and lecture.
