The KidWind Project is a nonprofit organization based in Minnesota focused on bringing renewable energy education to classrooms nationwide. We are hosting a virtual 101 workshop series for STEM teachers learning to bring more renewable energy curriculum into their classrooms.

These hands-on virtual workshops provide basic content knowledge and introduce a wide variety of standards-aligned activities to use in your classrooms. Each attendee will receive a box of materials by mail to build synchronously alongside our facilitator. Workshops and the materials used are geared toward middle school and high school teachers. No prior knowledge on the topics is required.

Join us from 11:00 AM–2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on the following Saturdays:

• Power Grid 101: September 26, 2026
• Wind Energy 101: October 17, 2026
• Solar Energy 101: November 21, 2026
• Offshore Wind 101: December 5, 2026

Each workshop costs $225 and includes $200 in materials! 6–12th grade STEM teachers can use code CREATE101 at checkout to bring the workshop cost from $225 to just $25!

We are especially interested in gaining participants for our Power Grid 101 session on September 26. During this virtual workshop, educators will learn the foundations of energy and how the power grid works. We will discuss the history of the power grid and the role of different forms of power in producing energy, as well as the consequences for the future of energy generation in the United States. We will also introduce activities for the classroom that engage students in dynamic, hands-on energy-based learning.

Registration closes September 13 to allow time for attendees to receive materials prior to the workshop.
