NC GreenPower Solar+ Schools
NC GreenPower is pleased to announce year six of our Solar+ Schools program! For more information, visit our website here. Any North Carolina K-12 school may apply for a grant of up to $14,000 toward installation costs. In addition, awardees receive nearly $12,000 in related benefits, such as donated SunPower solar modules, a STEM curriculum and teacher training.
Schools will have a fixed fundraising goal at one of three levels: $6,000, $9,000 or $12,000. Unlike previous years when we needed to wait for an installer quote, schools will now be given their goal upon being selected. To estimate your school’s fundraising goal, download this Excel file. We'd also like to thank the member-funded State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) who is increasing its 2020-2021 support for NC GreenPower’s program. The SECU Foundation will provide up to $20,000 in additional funding for up to ten K-12 public schools over the next two years to assist with the installation of a solar array system on their campus.
- Submissions will be due by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2020.
- Since 2015, donors have helped NC GreenPower provide matching grants for the installation of solar at 32 K-12 schools in 27 counties - reaching more than 26,000 students!
