Harold Hungerford and Trudi Volk spent the bulk of their careers as environmental education researchers at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. There they both trained a generation of EE academics and collaborated on a number of important research efforts. For example, their 1990 paper "Changing learner behavior through environmental education" (Journal of Environmental Educaiton, Volume 21, Issue 3) has been cited by 1,849 other publications (Google Scholar).
In this informal conversation we explore some of the key lessons and moments in the history of EE from their perspectives.
