2025 Summer Educator Retreat

A tall open space with concrete floors and tall glass windows that overlook a pond. Scopes on stands and signage on birds stand in front of the windows.

Join the Cornell Lab of Ornithology K–12 Education team for our annual Educator Retreat at our newly renovated Visitor Center in Ithaca, NY. This year’s program includes hands-on activities and outdoor exploration, and will be a time for discovery and nature connection. We will highlight best practices in participatory science and nature-based education.

This experience is especially designed for 3–8 grade classroom educators, STEM coordinators, and school librarians looking for innovative ways to teach STEM content and develop science literacy. This retreat will help you incorporate participatory science and nature exploration into classrooms. The curricula we will be training on are classroom focused or best for nonformal educators who have multiple sessions with the same students. We welcome nonformal educators, and previous attendees have found activities and ideas useful in their settings.

Scholarships are available thanks to donors. Apply for a scholarship through the online form. Please do not register until you hear back regarding your scholarship status.
