Interpretive Naturalist at Red Rock Canyon. I like to focus on youth and family programming. I have one 3 year old and another on the way!
Noemi Flores-Sahagun is an Interpretive Naturalist/ Education Specialist with Southern Nevada Conservancy, working in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. She designs engaging, inclusive educational programs that connect people of all ages, especially children to the natural and cultural wonders of the Mojave Desert.
Traveling through 30 countries and working on farms across six of them sparked my passion for organic farming and environmental education. After earning my degree in Environmental Science and Education, I taught science in the Dominican Republic and Hawaii, where I embraced outdoor learning. Now I run education programs at our hobby farm, Earthganic Farm, and teach at Valley Forest School, offering nature-based programs from our homestead. I’m passionate about low-waste living, growing food, and helping children connect deeply with the land. Ask me about growing 99% of my baby’s food or fitting a year’s trash in a 16oz jar!
As a founding member and English department lead at Utah International Charter School, I bring over 12 years of experience fostering equitable, trauma-informed learning environments for students from refugee and multicultural backgrounds. My work integrates interdisciplinary design and restorative justice practices to create a culture of care and inclusion. I also serve on the school leadership and instructional leadership teams to develop curriculum, mentor educators, and promote innovative teaching strategies that address diverse learner needs.
Leveraging a deep commitment to global education and equity, I aim to empower students as confident communicators and critical thinkers prepared for a connected world. I adapt instruction to meet individual and community needs, am dedicated to advancing literacy and equity, and have a mission to help students thrive academically and socially in an ever-changing global landscape.
Stormwater Education Specialist in Durham County, North Carolina. Informal educator at the Museum of Life and Science. Board member and education specialist for the nonprofit, Trees for the Triangle.
Since developing my passion in wildlife sciences and teaching I have worked at multiple environmental education facilities in an effort to inspire a love of the outdoors in younger generations and the public as a whole. I have multiple years of experience teaching, guiding, and interacting with the public. Through such experience I have developed a thorough knowledge of ecological concepts, interpretive styles, and methods of teaching through experiential education as a whole. I am looking to expand my knowledge base and work toward becoming a better educator by becoming a certified NC Environmental Educator.
I am a former teacher and a third-year PhD student in the Department of Education at the University of York, UK. My research interests include the dialogic and participatory approach to environmental education, the development of environmental literacy in formal educational settings and the design and implementation of educational approaches that focus on addressing the issue of climate justice.
I help organizations, school districts, and local governments achieve stronger connections with their communities and a healthy, more sustainable future for everyone.
