I'm the Beverly Cleary Professor for Children and Youth Services in the Information School at the University of Washington where I teach librarians courses children's literature and youth services, particularly around diversity. I'm also co-founder of Read-a-Rama (www.Read-a-Rama.org).

I am a professor at Central Washington University, with a joint appointment in Geological Sciences and Science Education and the Executive Director of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT). I am very involved in STEM teacher preparation, including education for sustainability.
