Growing up in Northwestern NJ I have always loved being outside. One of my first jobs was as a tollbooth operator for a state park and that exposed me to the variety of professions that were available to help protect our environment. One of the best methods I observed was environmental education.

MARK HATHAWAY is an adult educator and principle author of The Tao of Liberation: Exploring the Ecology of Transformation (Orbis, 2009). His doctoral research at the University of Toronto explores the intersections between transformative learning, worldviews, ecopsychology, and sustainability.
