I am currently a 6th grade science teacher at Carrollton Middle School in Saginaw, Michigan. I am in my 29th year of teaching and am still finding ways to enrich the lives of my students with new and interesting activities. My own love of science drives me to help my students see and understand how the world works by inspiring them to become aware of the environment that they live in.

I feel that teaching science has provided me with the best of two worlds. I get to experience what I love through all of the wonderful opportunities I have had in my twenty-nine years, and I get to share those with my students, hoping to inspire them to see the world as I do. As a science educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to help my students take an active role in ensuring that the environment in which they live is protected through positive, long term choices.
Some of the highlights that I have experienced in my career include:
- participating in an environmental climate change conference through the Keystone Science Center in Silverthorne, Colorado.
- participating in Aircamp in Dayton, Ohio.
- participating in the Smithsonian Science Teachers camp in Washington, DC.
- joining a group of science educators from around the world through GEOetc to study Hawaii's active volcanoes.
- participating in the Sustainability Teacher Fellowship.
- participating in the Great Lakes Green Schools Fellowship.
- coaching Science Olympiad.
- being an advisor for the Chief Science Officers program at my school.
