I’m Michal Miller, Executive Director of Wild Roots Nature Based Learning in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a Montessori-trained educator with 15 years of experience, I’m passionate about connecting children to nature through hands-on, curiosity-driven learning. I lead Wild Roots’ seasonal half-day camps and summer programs and am developing Wild Roots Montessori School (opening Fall 2026). My work focuses on inclusion, community partnership, and empowering educators to create joyful, meaningful, and environmentally conscious learning experiences.

I’ve spent over 15 years working in education as a Montessori-trained teacher, administrator, and nonprofit leader. My work centers on creating inclusive, nature-rich learning environments that honor each child’s curiosity and individuality. As Executive Director of Wild Roots Nature Based Learning, I oversee Montessori-inspired camps and programs that integrate STEAM, environmental education, and social-emotional growth. I’m also leading the development of Wild Roots Montessori School, opening Fall 2026, which will serve ages 3–13 through an interdisciplinary, place-based model. Beyond my organizational leadership, I collaborate with local parks, conservation groups, and educators to expand access to outdoor learning opportunities across northeast Indiana. My goal is to help children—and the adults who guide them—develop deep, lifelong connections with the natural world.
