I am a Brazilian biologist and educator with over 18 years of experience teaching and leading science programs. As Department Chair in Saint Louis, Missouri, I coordinate all science teachers and teach high school biology. I hold a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and a Master’s in Animal Biology from the University of Brasília (UnB), with research in animal behavior, ethnobiology, and science education. I focus on sustainability projects, international collaborations, and exploring how students understand and engage with climate change and STEM topics.

I am a Brazilian biologist and educator with a deep passion for teaching, research, and fostering meaningful engagement in science education. Over the past 18 years, I have dedicated myself to guiding students through the wonders of biology while also supporting and mentoring fellow teachers. Currently, I serve as Department Chair in Saint Louis, Missouri, coordinating all science teachers, developing curricula, and teaching high school biology.
My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and a Master’s in Animal Biology from the University of Brasília (UnB), where I explored animal behavior, ethnobiology, and science education. These experiences sparked my curiosity about how students learn, perceive, and connect with scientific concepts, particularly in the context of environmental and sustainability issues.
I am particularly interested in understanding how students from diverse backgrounds develop knowledge, motivation, and agency in STEM subjects, especially around pressing challenges like climate change and sustainability. My goal is to design educational practices that foster inclusion, critical thinking, and meaningful participation, connecting research, pedagogy, and real-world scientific issues. I am committed to advancing science education through innovative projects, international collaboration, and a reflective, student-centered approach that empowers learners and educators alike.
