Rooted in the guiding principles of being, beholding, and belonging, Soul Sprouts supports educators, parents, caregivers, and grandparents in fostering environments where young people can cultivate presence, deepen observation, and experience a genuine sense of relationship with the natural world.

Through curated resources, storytelling, contemplative practices, and connections to meaningful programs, Soul Sprouts serves as a bridge between ecological literacy and inner development. It invites a shift from content-driven education to relationship-centered learning—where science, imagination, and lived experience come together to inspire care, responsibility, and wonder for the Earth.

About the Chief Fairy Godmother for Mother Earth

Doreen M. Tanenbaum, M.Ed., ECSE (aka-Chief Fairy Godmother 4 Mother Earth)

In the magical realm where the beauty of nature intertwines with the wisdom of the heart, Doreen M. Tanenbaum—Chief Fairy Godmother for Mother Earth—weaves her enchantments. Her journey is one of dedication, love, and a commitment to nurturing young hearts and minds through the healing power of nature.

Early Adventures in the Blue Skies

For 18 years, Doreen navigated the skies as a manager and trainer for a major airline, cultivating leadership skills and a deep appreciation for the interconnected world beneath her wings. This chapter prepared her for a life devoted to bridging hearts and horizons.

Scholarly Pursuits and Grounded Roots

With a master's degree in Special Education and degrees in Cultural Anthropology, Elementary, and Early Childhood Education, Doreen’s academic journey has been a foundation for her mission. In 1999, she received a $285,000 grant from the Department of Education to create a rural library in Washington State, a testament to her vision for community empowerment.

A Journey Across Oceans

Doreen spent 14 years in Okinawa, Japan, supporting military families through the Naval Hospital and Department of Education. Her nurturing presence provided stability and guidance for those far from home.

Returning to the Enchanted Mountains

In 2018, Doreen returned to the embrace of her family and the timeless wisdom of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here, she found the perfect sanctuary to inspire her work as Chief Fairy Godmother.

Honoring the Ancient Teachings

Doreen was personally trained by Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona in the art of Ho’oponopono, a profound practice she has integrated into her daily life for over 41 years. Alongside this, she has studied the Indigenous wisdom of Jamie Sams, whose teachings further enrich her approach to nurturing young minds and spirits. As a practicing shaman, Doreen brings the transformative power of ritual and ceremony to help others navigate life’s transitions with grace and intention.

A Visionary Leader

Through Soul Sprouts, Doreen inspires youth to awaken to their true nature, discover their creative potential, and deepen their connection to Mother Earth. With her guidance, children and teens learn to listen to their hearts, honor ancient wisdom, and embrace the miracles and magic within themselves and the natural world.
