I am a native North Carolinian, mother to a determined UGA student, and married to my best friend.  I spent several years in television news and in the public education classroom before finding my niche in environmental education only recently.  Until a move last fall, I worked as an education with a environmental center in metro Atlanta, Georgia. I enjoy photography, traveling, cooking, my dogs, and spending time with my elderly  mother, who now lives with me.

From the day I was born, I have been a fighter.  I was born three months premature and placed in the neo-natal unit at our local hospital.  Doctors were not optimistic about my survival. However, I beat the odds and was released from the hospital two and a half months later.

I attended public schools and excelled in the science and history.  My studies took me to Western Carolina University where I graduated with a degree in Radio-Television Communications and Journalism.  I spent nearly 8 years working as a news producer in television markets in NC and Oklahoma.

After my husband and I married, I returned to school, eager to give back to  my communiy, and completed my certification in elementary education.  From there, I spent nearly 14 years in the classroom, teaching upper elementary students in NC, OK, and GA.

It was in Georgia where I decided I wanted to pursue environmental education.  After leaving a full time teaching position, I accepted a job at as an educator at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.  I fell in love with my work quickly, spending the days with students of all ages, teaching about animal life cycles, pollinators, water pollution, weather, and ecosystems.  Unfortunately, my husband's work precipated a move from Georgia.  During this time  off from a full time job, I am working on my certiication in environmetal education.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, gardening, cooking, photography, hiking, and spending time with my fur babies.
