This resource offers general guidance and resources for educators about organizing and managing outdoor learning. The website also offers other resources that enable students to engage in hands-on stewardship projects addressing real-world challenges.

The Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative (GLSI) is a Michigan-based nonprofit that empowers K–12 educators and students through place-based education, connecting learning to local environmental and community issues. Operating through a network of regional hubs, GLSI offers sustained professional development, including workshops, coaching, and mentorship to support teachers in designing and implementing impactful place-based projects.

I recommend GLSI because it transforms traditional education by making learning relevant and impactful, encouraging students to become active participants in their communities. Its emphasis on local engagement and environmental stewardship cultivates a sense of responsibility and connection to place among young learners.
