Globe at Night

A night sky with stars and a hill in front of it

Globe at Night is a global citizen science project that focuses on raising awareness surrounding the issue of light pollution. Light pollution impacts wildlife, disorienting or exhausting birds, nocturnal insects, and even sea turtles. It also limits our access to a long-held source of inspiration for both artists and scientists alike: an unobscured view of the stars.

You and your students can add to the over 200,000 measurements contributed from people in 180 countries over the last 14 years and help researchers get a better picture of light pollution as well as raise awareness toward the problem.
