Tide Turners Plastic Challenge
You're invited to the launch of the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge, the largest, global youth-led movement to fight the plastic crisis, for its next phase. The event will take place in New Delhi and virtually on April 20 from 2:30–4:00 PM IST (5:00–6:30 AM ET.)
Since its launch in 2019, the Tide Turners Plastic challenge has educated over 580,000 youth in 40 countries on marine plastic pollution, including 450,000+ youth in India alone, and over 588,740 youth globally through its four phases. The initiative focuses on enabling action by youth on single-use plastics and aims to motivate them to alter behaviour and norms around plastic usage at both individual and community levels.
This event will set the course for the next phase of the project, present the findings of an exciting new publication by Lonely Whale on meaningful youth engagement and connect the dots with negotiations on the Global Plastics Treaty.
Among guest speakers will be youth leaders and partners from Tide Turners, senior government officials from the United-Kingdom and India, Mr Bruno Pozzi, Deputy Director of UNEP’s Ecosystems Division, Mr Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator for India, Mr Atul Bagai, UNEP India Country Office Head, Mr Sam Barratt, Chief of Education , youth and advocacy unit from UNEP HQ and Ms. Dia Mirza, | Actor | Producer, UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador & United Nations Secretary-General Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals
