Teaching Extreme Weather: Starting October 15, 2024

4-week Asynchronous Course

A 4-week online course that provides grades 6–12 science teachers with an opportunity to explore the driving forces behind extreme weather events occurring where they live, the relationship to climate change, and methods to address NGSS standards. Upon completion, 12 hours of continuing education credit will be offered.

Course Objectives:

  • Explain the fundamentals of extreme weather.
  • Analyze how climate change and extreme weather events are related.
  • Explore regional extreme weather events in the U.S.
  • Design a lesson or series of lessons that include extreme weather events.
