Renowned raptor biologist and environmental educator Janie Veltkamp and children's STEM and environmental author Deborah Lee Rose, the national award-winning coauthors of Beauty and the Beak, will present a webinar on their new award-winning osprey rescue and conservation book Swoop and Soar, on December 8, 4 PM PST/7 PM EST.

Janie and Deborah will discuss the true environmental, wildlife story that inspired their new book about Janie's work in osprey rescue and conservation, Swoop and Soar: How Science Rescued Two Osprey Orphans and Found Them a New Family in the Wild. The book includes a lot of information about how DDT devastated osprey populations (50 years ago this year), how scientists, including Janie, reintroduced them, ongoing osprey conservation, and the environmental threats like plastic pollution that threaten this international species today.

At the event, Janie plans to have with her a young osprey that she is currently rehabilitating at her raptor center Birds of Prey Northwest.
