Experiences in nature can create memorable, holistic, skill-building activities. Nature Journals can also be a powerful tool to impart skills of focused awareness and intentional curiosity. This session will share lessons learned from the implementation of nature journal capstone projects in upper-level undergraduate coursework.

The presenter, Karly Tumminello, is the Director/Curator of the Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum at Benedictine University. She also teaches BIOL 4394: Nature Writing and BIOL 3389: Biological Research at Benedictine University. She currently volunteers as a board member of the Environmental Education Association of Illinois, a board member of the Pick Museum of Anthropology at Northern Illinois University, and as a Certified Illinois Master Naturalist through University of Illinois Extension.
