Getting Started with Cartographic Resources at the NYPL & NYBG
Join the New York Public Library and the New York Botanical Garden for an introduction to research with cartographic resources. Staff from the New York Botanical Garden will introduce Layers of the Past, NYBG’s new digital research tool for exploring historical maps of New York City, and discuss the critical role of these historical maps in NYBG’s Welikia Project, which reveals the block-by-block native landscape of the five boroughs. Staff from the NYPL Map Division will guide participants through accessing the library’s cartographic collections as well as other related resources available at the New York Public Library to support their historical and ecological research.
